Funny, but summer is no different than any other time of the year. It's rushing near and far, rushing to pack for vacation, and rushing to make plans for many social gatherings so we can take advantage of the warm weather.
Somewhere in there this year, my dogs, Rosco & Sophie were held captive in our home. It just was too dang hot to go out for much of our Illinois summer. Now that it's cooled considerably, we find ourselves rediscovering the trails, woods and meadows that border the Fox River. Lots of dogs, new friends and old to sniff and mosey along the path with. It feels so good to get outside and feel the breeze.
These are times to bond with our dogs. They look to us for leadership, and we give that to them by taking them out to the places they love. In doing so, it might benefit us as much as it does them. Happy autumn! Woof.
